Al-Qamar Islamic Research Institute offers postdoctoral fellowship opportunities for scholars who have completed their PhD and wish to pursue advanced research in Islamic Studies and related interdisciplinary fields.

The fellowship program supports serious academic research, publication development, scholarly writing, manuscript preparation, journal articles, book projects, and collaborative research connected with AQIRI’s academic vision.

Applications are welcomed in Islamic Studies, Qur’anic Studies, Hadith and Seerah, Islamic law, Islamic thought, Muslim history, religion and society, humanities, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Fellowship Types

Choose the format that fits your research.

Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

Independent research leading to an article, monograph, book chapter, edited volume, or policy-oriented academic paper.

Postdoctoral Publishing Fellowship

Develop publishable work, edit manuscripts, prepare scholarly books, support journal research, or contribute to AQIRI publication projects.

Visiting Postdoctoral Fellowship

Collaborate with AQIRI for a limited period through research, lectures, workshops, publications, or academic projects.

Non-Resident Postdoctoral Fellowship

Work remotely while remaining academically associated with AQIRI for a defined research or publication project.

Eligibility

  • A completed PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification
  • A research background in Islamic Studies or a related field
  • A clear research proposal and ability to produce scholarly work
  • Commitment to academic ethics and research standards
  • Strong writing, documentation, and communication skills
  • Previous publications or research experience, where applicable

Final eligibility may vary according to the specific fellowship announcement.

  • Research article, book chapter, or research report
  • Monograph or edited-volume proposal
  • Translation or critical-edition work
  • Seminar, lecture, or workshop session
  • Academic blog or public scholarship piece
  • Contribution to AQIRI publication projects

Professional Expectations

Fellows must maintain academic integrity, research discipline, confidentiality where required, proper citation practices, respectful communication, and timely submission of assigned work. AQIRI affiliation should be acknowledged in fellowship outputs according to institutional policy.

Selection Process

Academic review in three stages.

Application Review

Applications are assessed by academic background, proposal, publication record, relevance, and project feasibility.

Shortlisting

Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview, proposal discussion, clarification, or further documentation.

03

Final Selection

Selected fellows receive official communication covering terms, duration, responsibilities, reporting, and expected outputs.
