Digital Platform Technology
The Digital Platform Technology Department manages AQIRI’s digital publishing infrastructure and the systems through which its scholarly content is published, maintained, discovered, and preserved online.
Its work covers institutional and journal websites, online publishing platforms, publication metadata, digital records, persistent identifiers, technical maintenance, and the long-term accessibility of scholarly material. The Department supports both the technical operation of AQIRI’s publishing activities and the digital presentation of its research, journals, books, and institutional content.
It works closely with editorial, production, and communications teams to ensure that published material is technically accurate, consistently presented, and accessible through appropriate digital channels.
Department Responsibilities
The Department maintains and supports AQIRI’s websites, journal systems, and other digital publishing platforms.
This includes platform configuration, routine maintenance, publication updates, user access, technical troubleshooting, and support for online publishing workflows.
The Department provides technical support for journal publishing platforms, including submission and editorial systems, issue publication, article records, user roles, and the online presentation of journal content.
Its role is technical and operational; academic and editorial decisions remain with the relevant journal and editorial teams.
The Department supports the preparation and maintenance of accurate publication metadata for journals, articles, books, and other scholarly outputs.
This may include titles, abstracts, keywords, author information, identifiers, DOI records, bibliographic data, and other information required for scholarly discovery and digital publishing.
Approved publication files are prepared and maintained for online access through AQIRI’s publishing platforms.
The Department works with production teams to ensure that articles, books, reports, and related materials are correctly presented, linked, and maintained in their digital form.
AQIRI’s scholarly content and technical records require reliable organisation and long-term management.
The Department supports appropriate file storage, backups, digital archives, publication records, and preservation processes intended to protect institutional and scholarly material over time.
The Department is responsible for maintaining the reliability and security of AQIRI’s digital publishing environment.
This includes system maintenance, access control, backups, updates, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and measures intended to reduce the risk of technical failure or data loss.

The Department therefore supports the technical conditions required for AQIRI’s publications to be appropriately represented across scholarly publishing systems, discovery services, repositories, and indexing environments.
Working Across the Publishing Process
Digital Platform Technology works with the Editorial and Acquisitions Department, Production and Publishing Operations Department, journal teams, and other relevant offices.
Its involvement begins where publishing activity requires technical systems, publication records, digital files, online presentation, or long-term maintenance. The Department does not determine editorial acceptance or academic quality; its responsibility is to support the reliable digital publication and management of approved scholarly content.
